Our Correspondent, Arusha
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority has launched voting campaign to compete for the title of Africa's leading tourist attraction in 2024 at an event held at NTC Hall in the Arusha region.

Ms. Victorian Shayo, Acting Conservation Commissioner of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, announced the voting campaign, which will last 131 days and end in September of this year.

Ms. Shayo laid out that the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority won the award last year, a contest organised by the World Travel Awards, an organisation that presents numerous accolades and promotes tourism growth around the world.

The Acting Conservation Commissioner emphasised the significance of these awards in evolving the hospitality sector globally, and she urged Tanzanians and all tourists to the country to vote in huge numbers to allow Ngorongoro retain its title.

Regarding an upsurge in tourists in the country, Ms. Shayo stated that by the halfway point of the fiscal year 2023/24, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area had already attracted more than five hundred thousand tourists, enabling the Authority to collect over 123 billions Tanzanian shillings.

Ms. Mariam Kobelo, Tourism Services Manager, urged the press to continue encouraging people to visit and gain knowledge about tourism attractions found in the area.

Meanwhile, Mr. Peter Makutian, Principle Conservation Officer, commended all visitors visiting the Ngorongoro Conservation Area for voting in significant numbers and making it Africa's leading tourist attraction in 2023.

Tanzania, South Africa, Botswana, Egypt, and Malawi are among the five countries contending for this honour
