WILDLIFE ATTACK ESCALATE IN NGORONGORO, RESIDENTS FACE INCREASE DANGER

Residents of Ngorongoro Division in Ngorongoro District continue to live under harsh conditions due to ongoing attacks by wild animals, which have become a persistent threat in the area.

The division officer, Mr. Bahati Mfungo, confirmed the occurrences of these incidents, stating that the situation has become increasingly alarming with each passing day.

In recent events, more than two incidents have been reported where residents and livestock have either lost their lives or sustained severe injuries within the division.
A resident identified as Orkendenye Liarite, 32, from Bulati village, was severely injured while herding cattle when he was attacked by a lion, which also killed two of his cows.

Mr. Liarite sustained serious injuries to his right side and face and had to be rushed to Nainokanoka Health Centre for immediate medical attention.

In another incident, a resident named Kimirei Kuya, 26 was attacked by a hippopotamus inside his house in an unusual occurrence. The attack, which happened in Esere village, Alaitole ward, resulted in Mr. Kuya sustaining severe bodily injuries and ultimately losing his life.

Following these incidents, the government, through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA), continues to educate, mobilize, register, assess, and resettling residents who voluntarily wish to move to safeguard their lives.
